What is Community Engagement?

Community engagement involves collaboration between institutions of higher education and their larger communities (local, regional/state, national, global) for the mutually beneficial exchange of knowledge and resources in a context of partnership and reciprocity.

To me, CE is the work that we do together toward transformation, change, and progress for the benefit of all people involved.  I see our immediate community, the city of Stillwater, and our amazing university, OSU, detecting needs and opportunities, developing projects, and working together toward a better future; this in turn promotes a better understanding of issues of interdependence and sustainability. Only through dedication and passion for implementing and completing such projects, and having the courage to make all innovations possible, we become ONE successful community made of citizens affecting so positively the whole.
